Anthony Hamilton, the father of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, has announced bold plans for a new worldwide motorsport initiative aimed at expanding access and opportunities in the sport’s premier level.
The suggested HybridV10 series will consist of two divisions — a premier HybridV10 championship and a supplementary HybridV8 category — accommodating up to 24 teams and up to 48 race seats. The intended launch period is 2028 or 2029.

At the heart of the idea lies managing expenses and maintaining competitive parity. Every team would begin with an identical technical base, suggesting a standardized chassis, while still permitting innovation without instigating an arms race. Manufacturers would likewise be encouraged to join in.
Hamilton’s perspective goes well beyond just racing.
The proposal features a central “HybridV10 Campus” that will contain a Centre of Excellence, collaborative engineering resources, simulators, driver training equipment, and educational and apprenticeship routes designed to foster careers in motorsport.
The series would implement a draft system for drivers and team personnel, governed by its own Hybrid Super Licence structure. Although entry requirements are stringent, drivers may achieve eligibility not just through race outcomes but also through simulator success, technical expertise, fitness, and professionalism — creating opportunities for sim racers and alternative routes.
Participation of fans, another key element
A “This Isn’t Right” mechanism would enable supporters to voice concerns about fairness, safety, or procedures during race festivals, which are designed as three-day events featuring innovation showcases, HybridV8 racing, and HybridV10 headline action.

“This is a preliminary version, being crafted thoughtfully and correctly,” Hamilton stated. “I can create this by myself, but I prefer to develop it alongside the fans and those eager to influence the future of a new racing platform.”
Progress will persist until 2026, with evaluations scheduled for 2027 as the initiative approaches fruition.
