The producers of ‘Varanasi’ have just announced the release date for SS Rajamouli’s grand film, featuring Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Meteor, Myth & Mahesh: Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’ Sets April 2027 Release

The movie, which signifies the first partnership between Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu, is set to release on April 07, 2027. The creators revealed the progress with a fresh poster. The poster depicts a meteor colliding with Earth, suggesting a catastrophic scenario.

Promoted as a “globetrotter,” the film is said to combine a cosmic catastrophe with ancient Indian mythology. In the initial teaser from the film, which came out on November 16, 2025, Mahesh Babu’s role was displayed riding a robotic white bull. The glimpse reflected the actor’s fierce initial appearance on-screen as a bloodied warrior brandishing a trident.

Rajamouli disclosed that a significant scene draws inspiration from “a key episode of the Ramayana.” The director mentioned he never anticipated addressing such content this early. “During the writing of each scene and dialogue, I experienced a feeling of weightlessness,” he shared with fans, noting that the 60-day filming for the sequence was one of the toughest periods in his career.

Prithviraj portrays the villain, known as Kumbha, while Priyanka plays a role named Mandakini. The initial posters featuring both actors from Varanasi have generated significant excitement for the film. The film is shot for IMAX presentation.
