The event has sparked rumors of discord within the Madrid team, especially concerning Mbappé and Alonso — a connection that is now considered irrelevant. Only a few hours following the defeat, club president Florentino Pérez let Alonso go, and Álvaro Arbeloa was promptly chosen as his successor.
Before his dismissal, Alonso adopted a defiant tone while speaking.
