Sarfaraz Khan is excelling with the bat for Mumbai in the current Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite Group C match versus Goa. During the match at Jaipuria Vidhyalaya Ground in Jaipur on Wednesday (December 31), he made 157 runs off just 75 balls for the Shardul Thakur-led team against a squad featuring players such as Arjun Tendulkar and former Delhi Capitals player Lalit Yadav.
Sarfaraz, having participated in six Tests for India in 2024, came to bat at No. 4 for Mumbai following Yashasvi Jaiswal’s out, and quickly delivered one of the greatest innings ever.
While at the crease, the 28-year-old right-handed batsman struck 9 fours and 14 sixes.
His standout performance with the bat enabled Mumbai to achieve a score of 444/8 in 50 overs. For Mumbai, besides Sarfaraz, his younger brother Musheer Khan made 60 runs off 66 balls, and wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore hit 53 runs from only 28 balls.
Sarfaraz scored 93 runs off 60 balls for the third wicket alongside Musheer, added 42 runs from only 13 balls for the fifth wicket with Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur (27 runs off 8 balls), and contributed 59 runs from 24 balls for the sixth wicket with Tamore.
Sarfaraz took 56 deliveries to reach his century, and he surpassed the 150-run mark by launching a six off the first ball of the 42nd over and the 72nd ball of his innings
Sarfaraz, who was unable to bat in Mumbai’s third Elite Group C game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, made 55 runs against Uttarakhand at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on December 26.
The unfavored India batsman, who was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for his minimum price of Rs 75 lakh in the IPL 2026 mini auction held in Abu Dhabi on December 16, had previously showcased his batting skills in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) as well. In that tournament, he made one unbeaten century (100) against Assam and recorded scores of 52, 64, and 73 against Kerala, Haryana, and Rajasthan, respectively.
