Cristiano Ronaldo’s anger erupted on Monday night as Al Nassr’s championship hopes faced a significant setback in a 3-1 loss to Saudi Pro League frontrunners Al Hilal.
The five-time Ballon d’Or recipient had provided Nassr with an ideal beginning in Riyadh — but concluded the evening shaking his head in astonishment as he was substituted late on.
Ronaldo opened the scoring in the thrilling encounter, netting his 16th goal of the season with a precise finish in the 42nd minute after receiving a pass from Kingsley Coman. Al Nassr controlled the first half, repeatedly attacking Hilal’s goal and appearing assertive.
What Went Wrong for Al Nassr Against Al Hilal After Halftime?

Mohamed Simakan committed an awkward foul, leading to a penalty that Salem Al Dawsari successfully scored to equalize. Shortly after, Nassr’s situation deteriorated as goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi was dismissed after a VAR review for violent behavior, leaving the visitors with 10 players for more than half an hour.
Al Hilal detected an opportunity. Mohamed Kanno scored in the 81st minute, then Ruben Neves confirmed the victory with a penalty in stoppage time, completing a decisive turnaround.

As Nassr fell behind 2–1 in the 83rd minute, coach Jorge Jesus surprised the fans by taking Ronaldo off the field.
The 40-year-old responded angrily — shaking his head, flailing his arms and seemingly saying “impossible” as he walked away, a moment that rapidly gained popularity.
The loss puts Al Nassr seven points adrift of Al Hilal and continues a concerning downward trend — three consecutive defeats after a strong beginning to the season.
Still pursuing his first significant trophy with Al Nassr, Ronaldo now confronts yet another challenging task. Nassr will face Al Shabab on Saturday, aware that anything short of a victory would diminish their dwindling title chances.
